Capacity doubled to 30,000 tonnes per year with further expansion planned in 2007.

3rd May 2007. St Albans, Hertfordshire. UK. Baylis Recycling, the UK’s leading plastics recycler, today announced a move to new premises on three sites which will double its previous sorting capacity to 30,000 tonnes per year.

Following a devastating fire on Sunday 17th September 2006 the company has risen, phoenix-like, from the ashes with a new head office in St. Albans and two new sorting facilities in Thetford, Norfolk and Northampton.

Chris Baylis, founder and Managing Director of Baylis Recycling commented,

“The fire was traumatic and caused many headaches but the team here has worked tirelessly to continue servicing our clients, enabling us to return bigger, bolder and stronger than before.”

He continued,

“This is the beginning of a major expansion for Baylis Recycling, we intend to open at least one other sorting facility by the end of 2007 with the ultimate aim of reprocessing bottle to bottle in the UK.”

Thetford is already up and running with Northampton coming online in mid-May.  The opening of the two new facilities has not only strengthened Baylis’ current customer/client base but also opened up new markets and customers.  Going forward Baylis is actively looking to continue the expansion of their customer base and enter into new and exciting partnerships and/or joint ventures.

The new head office can be found at:

The ferocious fire destroyed the company’s facility in Slough, Berkshire, causing a loss of £5million in stock, revenue, plant and machinery.  However, the company continued to service and support its valued customers in both the public and private sectors.  Storage for all incoming plastics was immediately located and supply chains maintained.
